We have been in the paint business a long time, and observed many trends come and go – so when it comes to picking exterior house colour combinations for your home… you can trust our expertise!

You want to reflect your own unique style and personality through the colours you choose for your home – and our sustainable, non-toxic paints are here to bring that vision to life.

We don’t often advise following trends… march to the beat of your own drum and all that!

But… there are some killer paint colours taking centre stage at the moment, and a lot of great timeless colours are back in circulation.

In 2024, we're seeing a growing trend towards earthy tones and natural hues for exterior house paint choices.

Colours inspired by the great outdoors are making a massive comeback. Brick reds, lush greens and calming beiges are big right now!

If you’re thinking down the green hue route, we love Wholesome, Bush Block and Veggie Shop.

Beige is another timeless neutral hue and great for exterior house paint, that creates a real warmth to your house exterior, we love Hot Mud Pools, Moutere Clay and Kete.

If a pop of terracotta is more your vibe (we see you) we have just the shades; Jester, Wild Earth and Pizza Oven will absolutely understand the assignment.

When choosing your paint colour, your preferences are of course important – but so is complementing your home surroundings!

If you have a lot of greenery or don’t get a lot of natural light in your garden – these are all things you will want to consider.

Your architecture can also influence what colours work well: bold colours on more modern abodes and more simple neutral colour palettes for older homes.

But these are rules – feel free to experiment, and make sure you get your hands on our test pots before you commit to the full makeover.

We also find people forget to consider their roof! If you aren’t also making changes up top – then you are quite likely going to be dictated by what works with the current roof.

Give it a good clean and tidy before making the call – you might be surprised what colour is truly shining through..

Colour theory can be tricky! We totally get it. Picture the classic red farm house, it works because the bold red is balanced by the white trims by way of window frames and doors. Opt to strike balance when you are working with bold colours, and you’ll be away laughing.

Use a colour wheel to better grasp what colours pair best together. We have a toggle in our colour section so you can see our favourite paint colours too – because choice paralysis is real sometimes!

We think a great way to get a feel is starting small, opting to paint the front door or just the window frames and see what you think of your choices. You’ll know pretty quickly if you’re the family with the bright orange door, or if you’d rather paint it black.
