STORM has been designing in New Zealand since 2005.

So when the team started work on their new Tauranga store, the paint got the same scrutiny as everything else on display.
No new-store smell on opening day
Retail fitouts run tight. Trades end up stacked on top of each other and there is never enough time to think about needing to air the place out. But conventional paint doesn't care about your schedule. That chemical paint smell hangs around long after the drop sheets leave, greeting early customers for weeks.
Our paints don’t smell like traditional coatings. They carry less than 5g of VOCs per litre - well under international standards. There's also no nasty chemicals and none of those head spinning fumes you may be accustomed to.
That means a room can be used the moment it's dry. For STORM, that meant moving in quickly and opening on time, with no toxic smell distracting customers from the merchandise.
Colour that holds up under shop lighting
The other half of STORM’s decision was simply how it looks.
Our 160 colours are built on natural pigments and minerals, with titanium dioxide for coverage, and calcium carbonate and quartz powder for body and depth. Under retail lighting that shows up as a finish with something in it.
Dull walls flatten everything in front of them, and for a brand whose range runs from charcoal to ink to bone, that would have been a problem.
Our paint helped them make sure the clothing could stay the hero of each room.
STORM went with Egyptian Cotton on the walls, in a Low Sheen finish.
