Why We Became a B Corp
We’ve always believed in doing things differently. From day one, the Natural Paint Co mission has been to create paints and timber oils that are better for people and the planet. This commitment to sustainability, transparency, and innovation has now been officially recognised with our certification as a B Corp. We're incredibly proud to share that we're Australasia's first B Corp certified coatings company.
Why Did We Pursue B Corp Certification?
B Corp certification is awarded to businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. It’s not just a badge; it’s a commitment to using business as a force for good and embedding purpose into every decision we make. Becoming a B Corp was a natural step forward for us, aligning with our values and the way we operate.
Navigating certifications can be overwhelming, especially when there are so many labels claiming environmental or ethical credentials. What sets B Corp apart is its rigorous standards for social and environmental performance, its focus on transparency, and also the level of public awareness it has gained. The B Corp logo has emerged as a well known and well respected indicator of social and environmental performance - it shows you can trust that the business behind it is genuinely committed to making a positive impact.
We’re thrilled to join the growing community of certified B Corps across New Zealand and Australia. Some incredible brands leading the way include Ethique, Allbirds, Kathmandu, Koala, and Blunt Umbrellas – businesses that share our vision of using business as a force for good. Together, we’re part of the global B Corp movement, which is redefining success in business by prioritising people and planet alongside profit.

Ingredient Transparency
One of the main reasons we achieved certification is our approach to being open about what goes into our products. We’ve worked hard to replace toxic ingredients with natural alternatives like plant-based resins and natural minerals and we disclose every ingredient in our products. This transparency means you know exactly what you’re bringing into your home and can be confident you’re making the right choice for your family’s health.
Living Wage Employer
We’re committed to paying our staff a fair and living wage. Taking care of our team is fundamental to building an ethical business, and it’s an enabler that helps our team do their best work for the company and for every customer. Supporting each other means acknowledging the unique attributes and strengths that we all bring to our mission, while also recognising that we each have commitments, passions and things that sustain and fulfill us outside of work.
